Questions
Sizing, answered
What size tent do I need for 100 guests?
For 100 seated guests plan about 1,000 square feet. The smallest tent that seats 100 at 6-foot banquet tables is the 20' x 55' Standard at 1,100 sq ft, from $995. If you also want a dance floor and bar under cover, add roughly 300 sq ft and step up to the 20' x 83'.
How much space does each guest need under a tent?
Allow 10 square feet per guest for seated dining and 5 square feet per guest for standing or cocktail-style events. On top of that, a dance floor adds about 200 sq ft, a bar about 100 sq ft, and a buffet line about 100 sq ft.
Do round tables or long tables seat more people?
Long tables. Six-foot banquet tables seat about 20 percent more people than 60-inch rounds in the same tent, because rounds use floor space less efficiently. A 20' x 40' seats 80 at banquet tables but about 64 at rounds.
How much clear space do I need around a tent?
Add about 3 feet on every side beyond the tent footprint for stakes or ballast weights. A 20' x 40' tent needs a 26' x 46' clear area. Check for overhead branches and buried utilities before the crew arrives.
